Nao Victoria, jette r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement l\u2019ancre dans les ports du monde entier pour donner l\u2019occasion aux amoureux des beaux voiliers de visiter et de comprendre l\u2019exploit des premiers navigateurs du globe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">L\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re nous avions eu le privil\u00e8ge de visiter la caraque, ancr\u00e9e au Quai de la R\u00e9union,&nbsp;au Havre.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>La R\u00e9plique du Nao Victoria&nbsp; <\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Un travail de recherche historique<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le bateau tel que nous pouvons le visiter actuellement a \u00e9t\u00e9 construit en 1991 en Espagne, et a exig\u00e9 de nombreuses recherches historiques ainsi qu\u2019une documentation la plus compl\u00e8te possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">C&rsquo;est l\u2019architecte naval et constructeur Ignacio Fenandez Vial qui a men\u00e9 ces travaux. Celui-ci a d\u00fb entreprendre une enqu\u00eate compl\u00e8te en consultant les archives de la marine remontant au seizi\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, qui lui ont permis de confirmer les dimensions principales de la caraque d\u2019origine&nbsp;:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La hauteur du m\u00e2t, les caract\u00e9ristiques des voiles, et les gr\u00e9ements ont pu \u00eatre fid\u00e8lement reconstitu\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le navire dans sa forme actuelle permet au public d\u2019apprendre l\u2019histoire des grands explorateurs. C\u2019est \u00e9galement l\u2019occasion unique de pouvoir faire le lien entre ce pass\u00e9 qui a balis\u00e9 les progr\u00e8s \u00e0 venir de la marine du monde moderne et nos connaissances actuelles de la navigation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cet h\u00e9ritage flottant nous permet aussi de comprendre comment les connaissances de cette \u00e9poque ont \u00e9t\u00e9 fondamentalement remises en cause, en confirmant l\u2019intuition de Ptol\u00e9m\u00e9e qui pensait \u00e0 juste titre que la terre \u00e9tait ronde.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>La visite du Nao Victoria au Havre, une rencontre avec l&rsquo;histoire<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">J\u2019ai eu l\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re en septembre, le grand plaisir de pouvoir poser quelques questions \u00e0 un membre de l\u2019\u00e9quipage, telles que \u00ab&nbsp; Comment le Capitaine Magellan faisait-il pour calculer sa position quand il \u00e9tait en mer&nbsp;? (\u00e9tant donn\u00e9 qu\u2019il ne disposait pas d\u2019un GPS&nbsp;!).<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Les premiers instruments de la navigation <\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>au long cours<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mon interlocuteur me r\u00e9pondit \u00ab&nbsp;Il utilisait un sextant, un chronom\u00e8tre et un morceau de bois (en forme de rondin) fix\u00e9 \u00e0 une corde pour calculer la position du navire, \u00e0 partir de la vitesse et du temps \u00e9coul\u00e9 \u00e0 partir de la derni\u00e8re position connue&nbsp;\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Effectivement, dans l\u2019ancien temps de la marine, la seule fa\u00e7on de mesurer la vitesse du navire \u00e9tait de lancer par-dessus bord un morceau de bois reli\u00e9 \u00e0 une corde comportant des n\u0153uds, et d\u2019observer la vitesse \u00e0 laquelle ce b\u00e2ton s\u2019\u00e9loignait du navire.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cette m\u00e9thode approximative de d\u00e9termination de la vitesse du navire \u00e9tait d\u00e9sign\u00e9e par le terme \u00ab&nbsp;faire tanguer le loch&nbsp;\u00bb (le morceau de bois \u00e9tait jet\u00e9 par-dessus bord). Permet de mesurer la vitesse d&rsquo;un navire en noeuds.<br \/>https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/File:Loch_%C3%A0_plateau.jpg<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le loch \u00e0 bateau se composait lui d\u2019un morceau de bois en forme de patte d\u2019oie, l\u00e9g\u00e8rement lest\u00e9 qui \u00e9tait attach\u00e9 \u00e0 un enrouleur de corde, reposant dans un r\u00e9ceptacle appel\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0baille\u00a0\u00bb, associ\u00e9 \u00e0 un instrument pour mesurer le temps \u00e9coul\u00e9, en l\u2019occurrence un sablier d\u2019une demie-minute (comme vous pouvez le voir sur le dessin ci-dessus).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La corde comportait des n\u0153uds fix\u00e9s \u00e0 \u00e9gale distance autour de l\u2019enrouleur. Les marins lan\u00e7aient la \u00ab&nbsp;patte d\u2019oie&nbsp;\u00bb dans la mer, derri\u00e8re le navire, et la corde commen\u00e7ait \u00e0 se d\u00e9rouler du tambour de l\u2019enrouleur.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Plus le navire se d\u00e9pla\u00e7ait rapidement vers l\u2019avant, plus la corde se d\u00e9roulait. En comptant le nombre de n\u0153uds qui \u00e9taient pass\u00e9s par-dessus bord, pendant un intervalle de temps donn\u00e9, mesur\u00e9 par le sablier, les marins pouvaient ainsi d\u00e9terminer la vitesse du navire.
